I have extensive experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR”). ADR is essentially any method of resolving disputes without a traditional judge or jury trial. Businesses have pushed the legal system in this direction for decades now to avoid the cost and uncertainty of the traditional legal process. Techniques and programs such as mediation, facilitation and arbitration have been well received by the business community because of the faster results, lower costs and more controllable outcomes that can be achieved. I have served in the roles of Mediator, Facilitator and Arbitrator after being selected to do so by a judge or by the parties themselves. I have also represented parties many times during ADR proceedings. This has made me quite experienced with the special strategies that are most effective during these proceedings.
If a particular dispute qualifies, it may also be decided in one of the new business courts that are being utilized in pilot programs in southeast Michigan. I will be happy to discuss any of these methods of resolving disputes.
